Viola S. Allan

HYDE PARK - Viola S. Allan, 85, a lifelong area resident, died Saturday, September 8, 2007 at Victory Lake Healthcare Center in Hyde Park. Viola had a long career in the restaurant business. She and her second husband, William Allan, owned and operated the former Chicken Delight in Poughkeepsie. Family was very important to Viola, and she was a Girl Scout Leader while her daughters were active in scouting. She was also active with the Barrett House in Poughkeepsie, where she enjoyed setting up artwork for shows and fulfilling her love for arts and crafts. Born in Poughkeepsie on June 29, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Mabel Jennings Thompkins. She was a graduate of Poughkeepsie Schools. Her first husband, Wellington Boughton, died in 1996, and her second husband, William Allan, predeceased her as well. Survivors include two sons, Wellington Boughton of Oklahoma, and Frederick Boughton of Poughkeepsie; two daughters, Joan Gallante and husband, Ronald, of Hyde Park, and Nancy Schneider and husband, Joseph, of Lafayette, Indiana; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Eleanor Funk of Pleasant Valley, and Jeanette Bartles of Dutchess County; a brother, Gene Simpson of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Kenneth Boughton; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Boughton; and a brother, Fred Thompkins. Calling Hours will be from 7 to 9 Pm, Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park. Funeral services will be at 10 am on Thursday, September 13th at the funeral home. Rev. Arlene R. Wilhelm will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot in Union Cemetery of Hyde Park. Angelina A. Fowx
TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE Angelina A. Fowx, 66, of Poughkeepsie, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007 at Sloane Kettering Hospital, New York. A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Fowx was employed by AVR Homebuilders in Fishkill. Prior to that, she had been employed as an Executive Secretary at IBM, Poughkeepsie, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Italian Center in Poughkeepsie. She was also a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Mrs. Fowx devoted much of her spare time to Mount Alvernia Monastery in Wappingers Falls. She was born in Poughkeepsie, a daughter of Jennie Polito and the late Frank Polito. Mrs. Polito survives at home in Poughkeepsie. She was married the LeGrand I. Fowx of Poughkeepsie, who survives at home. In addition to her loving husband, LeGrand and her mother, Jennie, she is survived by her twin sons, LeGrand and Francois and his wife Dawn of Poughkeepsie; her step-daughter, Sheila Fowx Ford and her husband, Orkendell Ford of Alexandria, VA; her grandchildren, Kyle, Christopher and Julia Fowx of Poughkeepsie; and her step-granddaughter, Darlene Ford of Woodbridge, VA. She will oversee the birth of her next granddaughter, Siena, from heaven. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Angelo Polito and Marie Polito; a sister, Dorothy Doulin; an aunt, Angie Catalano; an uncle, Joe Morabito, of Hudson, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews and beloved friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY. A funeral mass will be said on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Route 9, Poughkeepsie. Angie was a generous and loving person who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Lymphoma Society. Margaret LaLonde
BEACON - Margaret Agnes LaLonde, a resident of Beacon, died Sunday, September 9, 2007, at Eden Park Nursing Home, Poughkeepsie, NY. She was 88. Born in Newark, NJ on October 10, 1918, she was the daughter of Jacob and Margaret Cloran Petersen. On November 10, 1940 in St. Anne's Church, Brentwood, NY, she married David LaLonde, who predeceased her on April 24, 2003. Mrs. LaLonde was an X-Ray technician at Pilgrim State Hospital, Brentwood, retiring in 1973. She was a parishioner of St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist Church, Beacon. Mrs. LaLonde is survived by two daughters, Linda Greenberg and her husband, Harry, Guilderland, NY, and Pamela La Londe, Newburgh, NY, a sister, Pearl Anderson, Bay Shore, NY, and four grandchildren, Charles Gatje, Bethesda, MD, Jeffrey Gatje, Saku, Japan, David Greenberg, Watervliet, NY, and Ellen Greenberg, Albany, NY. The family will receive their friends at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon, on Monday, September 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. In addition to her husband, David, she was predeceased by her brother, Jacob Petersen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, September 11, at 10 a.m. at St. John's, 35 Willow Street, Beacon. The family extends heatfelt gratitude to the entire staff of Eden Park Nursing Home for their loving care during Mrs. LaLonde's long illness. Helen M. Owens
Helen M. Owens, 83, passed away September 9, 2007 of heart failure. Born April 1, 1924 in East Fishkill, NY. Helen moved to Haines City in 1994 from Mill Hall PA. She was a 1942 graduate of Wappingers Central School. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joe; 1 daughter, Sandy of Bel Air, MD; 2 grandchildren, Christopher and Cindy; 1 brother, Robert, of Fishkill, NY. Anthony Alfred Pugnali
LAGRANGE - Anthony Alfred Pugnali, 59, a long time resident of LaGrange died suddenly of a heart attack Friday evening on September 7, 2007. He was born July 13, 1948 in Poughkeepsie, New York. Anthony graduated from Ketcham High School and he received his Bachelor of Business degree from Marist College. Anthony enjoyed a 25 year career with IBM and 5 year career with Candle Computer Corporation as a Senior System Analyst. He married Jayne Ann Louise Angiulo on September 29, 1984 in Northport, New York. Anthony enjoyed history, art, music, playing drums, traveling, sailing, speed boats and most of all spending time with his sons, Anthony Michael and Matthew James. He is survived by his wife, Jayne Ann Louise Pugnali, and two sons, Anthony Michael Pugnali and Matthew James Pugnali; his mother, Maria Zaccaria Guido of Wappingers Falls, his sister, Marie Villa and brother in law, Christopher Villa of Hopewell Junction, brother, Steven Pugnali of Highland, brother in laws, Stephen Angiulo of Woodbury, New York and Neil Angiulo of Marathon, Florida; nieces, Kim Baright, Kelly Villa, Lindsay Pugnali, Martina Angiulo, Ann Renee Angiulo, Stefani Angiulo, and nephews, Kevin Villa and Thomas Angiulo; grand nieces and nephews, Evan, Ryan, Logan, Tyler, Lia, cousins and close friends. He was predeceased by his father, Harry Pugnali of Highland and Michael Guido of Wappingers Falls; and grandfather, Antonio Pugnali, who he dearly loved and treasured memories of his vineyards in Highland. Helen Underhill
MILLERTON, NY - Helen F. Underhill, 78, a four-year resident of Millerton, NY, formerly of Dover Plains, NY, died Sunday, September 9, 2007 at her son's home in Millerton. Mrs. Underhill was a homemaker and worked for many years on the family's farm on Chestnut Ridge Road in Dover Plains. She was born July 25, 1929 in Dover Plains, the daughter of the late Wesley and Minnie Benson Dennis. She was the widow of Elmer K. Underhill who died June 1, 1977. Mrs. Underhill is survived by two sons, David Underhill and his wife, Mary, of Millerton, NY and Jeffrey Underhill and his wife, Carol, of Hudson, NY; two brothers, Malvin and Samuel Dennis of Canajoharie, NY; five sisters, Matilda Burhance of Pawling, NY, Linda Camburn of Pleasant Valley, NY, Cora Cargain of Pleasant Valley, NY, Mary Neiderkorn of Dover Plains, NY, Shirley Vincent of Dover Plains, NY; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Justin, Jayanna, and Sara Underhill. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and George Dennis and three sisters, Emma Clark, Catherine Boschelli and Marge Dennis. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, September 12, 2007 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. during calling hours.
